"It is a challenge sometimes to think of the church and not be drawn to a critical focus on its imperfections but it's important. I have a conviction about the church that is deeper than my very variable emotions. I have been disappointed in the church, and unfairly criticized in the church. I have also seen God at work, Jesus embraced, the gospel proclaimed, love expressed, praise lifted to God and service offered to the world. In all this what most shapes my perspective of the church is not my perception but God’s revelation."
