Cheryl Mary Nicaragua 09This June, 18 members from Christ Community Church plus 6 other “Team Florida”  friends and family went to San Ramon, Nicaragua on the “Blast the Hindrance” mission.  The theme was a question of what could be holding you back from serving on a mission and why not go forward and go?  Well it was a first time trip for 15 of the team and they went with mixed excitement and trepidation.  We had planned a day of rest before we went to the actual mission compound to get our bodies refreshed from a grueling travel day and to get our minds free to concentrate on what God had in store for us in San Ramon and the surrounding villages. We arrived in San Ramon and went right to work putting a pharmacy together and a mobile medical clinic and preparing over 2500 goodie bags to take with us.  Over the next 7 days we held three medical clinics and two shoe clinics, we worked on the mission building and we helped plant a community garden which includes over 400 coffee plants and many other local vegetables and fruit trees.  It was an exhilarating time and the stats are impressive – over 3500 people treated, over 500 pairs of shoes given out, clothing given out to 500 more and much accomplished at the mission.

Mike Nicaragua 09Corner of Love has had a huge impact on the region and will continue to be an outreach to the thousands of poverty stricken people in the surrounding mountain villages.  Tom Williams and Dave Maniquis have each shared their thoughts on this trip with me and I want to pass them along to you.  We here at Christ Community Church want to continue to send missionaries on short term trips to Nicaragua and you will be hearing about a new trip in October in the next couple of months.

I would encourage you to pray about going and being a part of this opportunity to bless and be blessed.  Ask anyone who has gone and they will tell you it is life changing.  Thank you for all your support as a church family with your prayers and financial gifts.  In that sense you are all a part of our team.
